Acupuncture for Allergies

During the allergy season when patients come in with acute sinusitis or allergic rhinitis symptoms accompanied with inflammation of the sinuses, runny nose, itchy eyes, ears or throat and sneezing, the initial goal is to treat the symptoms. Most patients have relief of their allergy symptoms with just a few acupuncture treatments and by taking Chinese herbs.

Allergy elimination treats the root cause of allergies by strengthening the immune system and desensitizing the patient to the allergen causing the reaction. This involves continued allergy treatment beyond the allergy season. It helps to eliminate seasonal allergies permanently and to treat more complicated health problems.

Dr. Rakela uses a special system of allergy desensitization that was developed by Dr. Nambudridpad called NAET (Nambudridpad's Allergy Elimination Technique). This system helps eliminate allergies of all types. Applied kinesiology testing, spinal massage and acupuncture treatment are used to desensitize the patient to food, environmental, chemical or emotional allergens.

Kinesiology (muscle testing) is used to test for allergens that are blocking your energy pathways and weakening your system. This treatment clears or desensitizes you to the allergen by balancing the body's energy with the energy of the allergen. It reprograms the brain and nervous system to no longer react to the offending allergen.

After the treatment, you must stay away from the offending allergen for 25 hours. You are then retested to see if you have cleared the allergen. Most substances are cleared with just one visit. If you are severely immune deficient it may take a few visits to clear an allergen. In most cases once the allergen is cleared, you will no longer react to the substance when you come into contact with it in the future.
